Old World Style for Contemporary Living ... About Brescia Woodworks

Based in the mountains of western North Carolina, Brescia Woodworks is the studio of craftsman Chris Quinn. Quinn produces and distributes hand-crafted Savonarola chairs to galleries, churches and homes throughout the Southeastern United States.

In a wood-frame house built in 1885, Quinn makes and assembles more than 70 detailed, individual pieces—legs, arms, back, slats and staves—to complete each chair. A custom cross medallion in burled or quilted hardwood accents the back.

Quinn builds chairs in pine on a production basis and hardwood on commission. Available hardwoods include cherry, maple, oak, and walnut, or a mixture of woods. Stain colors vary; most production chairs are finished in dark walnut.

The Savonarola chair measures 22”d x 27”w x 35”h and weighs around 16 lbs., depending on the type of wood. Prices range from $500 to $750.
